Gameboy Color Bluetooth Controller
This project started as a personal project to test my skill replicating a Gameboy Color with only a pair of calipers. Mid-way through I was struck with inspiration for a device in which people can play their favourite emulated games on their smart phones, whilst holding a faithful recreation of the hardware for a genuinely nostalgic experience. This project remains a work in progress

The controller would work either as a “dock” for a smartphone, connecting via bluetooth, or collapsed as a wireless controller for a retro gaming console.

The top of the device remains faithful to the original Gameboy Color besides some minor tweaks. The Gameboy cartridge slot was a necessary addition for the mechanism and to have enough space to clamp a phone.

The original goal for the Gameboy Color was to faithfully replicate it within 0.05mm with full consideration of the original draft angles and manufacturing features.

Physical 3D-printed prototype to prove viability and comfort of additional trigger buttons. Original Gameboy Color hardware including rubber domes was used to replicate the feeling of pressing each button.
