Left Handed Game Controller
Final Year Honours project for university.
The premise is two-fold:
- To create an open-source controller where there is no longer a “one size fits all” approach. A potential user can input their hand size and preference of buttons and the end result is generatively designed to suit.
- To propose a viable replacement for the keyboard, which was never designed for gaming; where there is consideration for preventing RSI and adding analogue movement.
This controller is designed for desktop PC gaming. The user will have this in their left hand, replacing the keyboard, whilst the mouse remains in their right hand.
This left hand controller has programmable keys. The goal is to replace the “WASD” movement keys and their nearby function keys with an analogue movement stick and full-size cherry-red Mechanical keys, and a functional d-pad.
This is a functional, playable prototype. This controller uses the motherboard of a USB controller and has native compatibility with windows.
